Senator Jesse Helms, the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, where the ratification of the CRC (Convention on the Rights of the Child) takes place, indicates that the CRC's ratification is not taking into consideration.
Jesse Helms said:
-The American people do not need yet another body determining what is in the best interest of US families…the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, is incompatible with God-given rights and responsibilities of parents to raise their children.
The senator continued:
-The United States Senate must not dignify this strange document by allowing the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child to be considered.
