Fundamental principles

The Convention on the Children's Rights speaks about every child's right. In those cases in which actions are taken regarding children as a group, the best interest of every child in that group must be taken in consideration.

The Convention on the Children's Rights focuses on the following:
* the child is an individual
* the child is unique
* the child has special needs
* the child needs support and protection
* the child's integrity must be respected
* the child's right to express his/her opinion
* the child has his/her own rights
