Dear Sir: I wrote you because I read across newspaper (Philippine Daily Inquirer) about the fate of the 2-year old "heart baby" Jerden Sampang related to her sponsored heart surgery at the Montefiore Medical Center in New York. I understand that they go through many hardships before the forthcoming operation made possible through the kind heart of US based Gift of Life Foundation. Henceforth, I would like to ask assistance on how to avail this sponsored surgery because I have a daughter whom has congenital Ventricular Septal Defect also known as VSD. Her name is Elyza Gaye Eslava, 5 years old and she has 0.42-cm "hole" in her heart. It was diagnosed by her doctor when she was still 4 months old and will be observed till 5 years old. On her latest check up with her doctor last December 2001 at the Philippine Heart Center, her doctor told us that she need to be operated (open-heart surgery) immediately (maybe this March 2002) because her left side of her heart had enlargement (0.1 cm). Also, her doctor explains to us that the operation may prevent further complications such infection of the heart and pulmonary hypertension. I am willing to allow them to fix her heart but we need large sum of money to make this possible. Her doctor told us that we have to spend as much as 300,000 in Philippine Peso ( roughly US $ 5200 ) but the problem is that we have little savings and can not afford to shoulder the whole operation.
